Goodbye 2012

Last year at around this time I left my old blog on blogspot and started here. One of my first entries was Hello 2012… pictures of the travels I had done in the past few years and what I hoped for 2012. As 2012 will end tomorrow, I found it appropriate to say goodbye to this year in the same way I said hello. Happy one year of me being on wordpress – an upgrade on my blogging life, like so many other positive changes I made this year.

Re-reading my hopes for 2012 I see that I wanted to “this year to be filled with more traveling, more love and more growing. I hope I laugh more, and I hope I say yes to what I want more, and no to what others want from me or for me, unless I want it too.”

I definitely got better at saying no, and cutting things and people out of my life who drained me or negatively affected me. I worked hard at simplifying. I traveled to Las Vegas, Canada, Peru and Mexico, and all over southern California for new hiking and food adventures. I definitely grew through trials and mistakes, taking responsibility for my choices and my happiness.

I got closer to my friends and family, and welcomed a niece into the world who in her 3 weeks of life has already brought out family even closer together. I focused on my career and money, and was able to work very hard, learn a lot of new things at work and pay off all of my credit card debt this year. I started running again, after being injured for so many years. Hiking, yoga and traveling gave me so much inspiration and it feels amazing to start running again.

I read some great books, watched some great films and ate delicious food. Looking back at this year I can’t be more grateful for all the blessings that came into my life… even the bad stuff. Oh! and can’t forget… I also went bungy jumping and went blonde.

For 2013, I am keeping my resolutions private again, but I have high hopes that the next year will be more life changing than this one. That I will keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone to try new things, meet new people and challenge myself in all ways. I want to run the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, I want to read at least 12 books, and I want to go to Bali, Indonesia.

If you are reading this, thank you for being part of my life in the year 2012 and helping forever change me.

Travel on.

Thank you for sharing your year of growth, insight and continued progress. 2012 was the year I first embraced writing in my personal blog and it has changed me for the better. Discovering that this awakening involved actively reading others tales of enlightened journeys added to my enjoyment and my education. Your posts are so very enjoyable to read. Thanks again, Edward
